Codes & Ethics

As part of its commitment to promoting a transparent, credible, and responsible education consultancy sector in Nepal, the Nepalese Association of Australia Education Representatives (NAAER) upholds a strict Code of Conduct for Advertising.

Established under the Education Consultancy Advertisement Code of Conduct 2065, these guidelines ensure that all member agencies communicate ethically, avoid misleading information, and maintain the highest standards of professionalism.

The term “advertising” includes but is not limited to the following:

Print Media

Newspapers, magazines, brochures, pamphlets, banners, hoarding boards, street signs, posters, stickers, calendars, and all printed promotional materials distributed through media, exhibitions, public spaces, or educational institutions.

Electronic & Digital Media

Television, radio, FM stations, cable TV ads, scrolling messages, digital announcements, CDs/DVDs, and any electronic or broadcast promotional content.

Member Obligations

All NAAER members must strictly adhere to the following advertising ethics:

1. Avoid Misleading Superlatives

Members must not use unauthorized adjectives or superlatives such as: No. 1, Leader, Best, Largest, Oldest, or any term that misleads the public or cannot be independently verified.

2. No Use of the Word “Guarantee”

Members must not use the term “guarantee” in any form, including but not limited to:

  • Visa guarantee
  • Job guarantee
  • Paid internship guarantee

If promoting internships (paid or unpaid), the advertisement must clearly mention:

  • Name of the institution
  • Course details
  • Duration of internship
  • All applicable terms and conditions

3. No Job Assurance or Financial Claims

Members must not promote job-related assurances, including phrases such as:

  • Job search support
  • Employment arrangement
  • Job club
  • 100% OJT
  • Earn … per week/month/hour

Any statements that imply guaranteed income or employment outcomes are strictly prohibited.

4. Avoid Claims Beyond Professional Authority

Advertisements must not include any promise or claim that falls outside the consultant’s control or relies solely on external authorities. Prohibited phrases include:

  • Admission guarantee
  • Job guarantee
  • Visa within … days
  • Offer letter in … days
  • Work within … days
  • 100% OJT

or any other misleading commitment that violates professional norms.

5. Upholding Trust and Integrity

By following these guidelines, NAAER and its members work collectively to safeguard students, maintain trust in the education consulting sector, and strengthen ethical practices across the industry.
